‘Twas a new McGann Monday, though nary a peep
Made the fangirls on Tumblr; they all were asleep.
Their postings were queued and the drafts made with care
In wait for the morning when Paul would be there.
The fangirls were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Clannishness danced in their heads.
And kitty all purring and I snuggled tight,
Had settled my head for a long winter’s night.
When then in my brain there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to my Tumblr I flew like a flash,
Woke up my computer and refreshed my dash.
The light of the screen in its soft, glowing blue
Gave my darkened apartment a strange, ghostly hue.
When what to my overjoyed eyes should appear
But a beautiful sight that filled me with cheer!
With the most perfect face since all humans began,
I knew in a minute it must be McGann.
More rapid than eagles the postings they came,
And I whistled and I shouted and I called them by name:
Now Percy! Now Marwood! John Worthing and Mark!
Catherine the Great! Afraid of the Dark!
From Lieutenant Bush to Liam and Eugene,
Reblog every photo! Screencap every scene!
As my heart before a New Who ep does race
When I witness the TARDIS out hurtling through space,
So made my spirit these postings renew
With their wit and their art… and Paul McGann, too!
And then, in an instant I saw on the tab
Parenthese’d numbers I leapt up to nab!
As I drew to the window and loaded the site,
There showed up a photoset much to my delight.
Paul was dressed as the Doctor from his head to his shoes
(Which fit him quite perfectly with minimal use).
A bundle of curls he had up on his head,
And he looked so damn pretty I thought I’d be dead.
His eyes oh how blue! His smile so infecting!
Are those some DEJVs I’m detecting?
His too-perfect features looked sculpted by hand
By a Renaissance artist as the ideal of man.
A fob watch he held in his hands without fail
(A just-for-us-Yankees key “Time Lord” detail).
He had a kind face and perfect complexion:
The true epitome of natural selection.
He was dapper and fit in his frock coat of green
That I swooned and I squealed like a girl of fourteen.
And noticing reblogs commenting the same
Assured me I was not alone in that claim.
He spoke in my head with his deep, soothing air:
“I love humans… seeing patterns in things that aren’t there.”
As I scrolled down the page to see Paul some more,
I saw there were gifs that I’d not seen before!
But the wee hours were turning and flitting away,
So I logged off to wait for more Paul the next day.
And there I exclaimed as I turned out the light,
“Happy McGann Monday to all, and to all a good night!”
(ETA: Sorry for the length on your dash. I tried to put a “read more” cut in it, but it doesn’t seem to want to work.)
